Info
Tàkàlùmí is a conceptual footwear study developed through the reinterpretation of familiar mule and slide silhouettes, using the Reebok Beatnik and everyday slipper forms as reference points. While informed by observations of existing mule and slide typologies, the final form, proportions, and construction were conceived and designed independently, resulting in a distinct product identity. The project explores how subtle shifts in proportion, curvature, and surface treatment can redefine comfort-driven footwear as a considered design object. The project examines how a single design can adapt across material expressions without losing its core character. Presented through rubber, fabric, and leather variants, the work highlights how material choice reshapes tactile perception, mood, and visual weight. Visualization was treated as an integral part of the design process, with each setup intentionally composed to communicate the design’s form, function, and presence as a cohesive experience.
